Sedona a Guiding Force to Follow

Sedona Guaard, a Cut Shot VBC all-star, has officially committed to Kean University.

She has been recruited to the Cougars as an outside hitter and defensive player. Kean is coming off of an amazing season as New Jersey Athletic Conference Champions, coached by Don Perkins. She plans to continue her education majoring in Criminal Justice/Criminology.

Sedona is not only an amazing athlete, she is a dedicated student. She received the Scholar Athlete Award her senior year, as well as, the William Livingston Scholarship, which is highest academic award from Kean University covering her tuition for four years.

Sedona started playing volleyball as a middle school student at the Haworth Public School, under coach, Mrs. Rispoli.

When she decided to play club for Cut Shot she immediately had the athletic ability and knowledge of the sport to play on the 15 and 16 Elite team undder Head Coach Michelle Yoo.

Michelle explains the kind of athlete Sedona is and how she can impact her team. "Sedona is an athlete that does not settle, but instead constantly, consistently strives for greatness. This kind of athlete is rare in today's youth, and I'm confident it will benefit her at Kean University, in her academics and any career and life's path she desires to take. She also has another rare quality and it's her leadership and presence on and off the court. Her ability to lead in any situation, adapt to any changes and build confidence in her teammates is extraordinary. I'm confident she will excel in any challenges she encounters and I'm excited to see her continue to grow and succeed in her life's endeavors" describes Coach Michelle Yoo.

She continued to compete for the Cut Shot VBC playing on the successful 17 and 18 Elite teams that are both ranked high among the GEVA rankings.

During her high school career she played at Northern Valley Demarest "NVD" under Coach Beth Powell all four years on the Varsity team. At NVD she was a six rotation player and captain for the 2019 Group 2 State and Sectional Championship team. 

Other awards Sedona achieved during her career include;

Sophomore year: All league

Junior year: All league

Senior year: All league, All county, All state 

She was Honorable Mention in her senior year as Bergen Record "Athlete of the week" for her performance against powerhouse Immaculate Heart. 

Cut Shot VBC congratulates Sedona of her amazing achievements and wishes her the best in her future careers both on and off the volleyball court.
